21-year-old Ashton Attzs is a queer and non-binary Black award-winning artist based in the UK who uses traditional acrylic painting to platform underrepresented people and social issues. Having created for Adidas, Universal Music, VICE, Instagram and beyond, we discuss the power of art and media in social movements, the challenge of collaborating with large brands while retaining your values and vision, non-binary identities, intersex surgeries, and the road to inclusion, education and visibility.
