It is better to get to know a person in the dating phase prior to entering into a relationship, so you have time to learn if you two are or aren't suitable for a relationship and dissolve the idea early rather than lead yourself and another person down a rabbit hole that isn't going to go in the direction that you intend it to go. Not everyone you meet will be suitable for a relationship with you. I used to date this way. Then, I tried other ways, which simply were not sustainable to adequately get to know a person. This way is a better approach to getting to know a person, so there is a reduction of unrealistic expectations.
