Description
Families at the time of Christ were very much patriarchal (ruled by the father) as are many rural families around the world today. City families tend to be geared more around helping the children achieve full independence as quickly as possible and this background may colour the way we receive the references to Father/son relationships in the scriptures. Looking at the 'Lord's prayer guidelines' through lens of patriarchal family of the day.
