That personhood should be supported and validated with compassion and dignity. Dr. Chochinov has also led a large program of research on dignity within the healthcare setting, which includes the development and study of Dignity Therapy. As a Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Manitoba and a Senior Scientist at CancerCare Manitoba Research Institute, Dr. Chochinov reminds us all that “patients won’t care what you know until they know that you care.”
