Legislator Kevin McCaffrey began his career in government in 1990 when he was elected to serve as Trustee and Deputy Mayor of Lindenhurst, the largest Village in Suffolk County with more than 28,000 residents and an $11.6 million annual budget. During the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, Kevin served as the Village’s liaison with relief groups that helped Lindenhurst get back on its feet. Kevin has also delivered effective government services by helping to provide decades of funding to develop and maintain some of the best village-owned ball fields and parks in Suffolk County. While Deputy Mayor, Kevin was also elected to the Teamsters Local 707 Executive Board in 1995 and then became President of Local 707 in 2000, a position he still holds today. Kevin and his wife Julie, a former Registered Nurse, have been married for over 35 years, and are the proud parents of two children. Their son Mike serves as a Detective in the New York City Police Department and their daughter Katie serves as Assistant to the Mayor in the Village of Lindenhurst. Kevin is a graduate of Berner High School in Massapequa and later attended Farmingdale State College and Empire State University. He also received a certified Employee Benefit Specialist Designation from the Wharton School of Business. He was first elected to the Suffolk County Legislature’s 14th District in 2014 and became the Presiding Office in 2022.
