The Land of Kings
Description
The 'Etruskey' podcast introduces listeners to the ancient culture of the Etruscans.
The first episode, 'Land of Kings', explores their cultural and territorial heritage, which is still reflected in many Italian words and places today. The Etruscans lived in the area called Etruria, corresponding today to Tuscany, western Umbria and northern and central Lazio, between the 9th and 1st centuries BC.
The Necropolis of Banditaccia, located in Cerveteri, is the oldest and largest in the Mediterranean area, with about 20,000 tombs, and provides information on the life of the Etruscans and the structure of their societies. The site is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
