The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Part One
Description
Submitted here for your approval is Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” first appeared in Washington Irving’s collection of stories, The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent., published in 1819. It is among the earliest examples of American fiction with enduring popularity, especially during Halloween because of a character known as the Headless Horseman believed to be a Hessian soldier who was decapitated by a cannonball in battle during the American Revolutionary War. We present the tale in its original form, with just a bit of editing for the modern day listener.
Read by Myron Hieronymous Thomas this adventure will take you back to the very early days of our country and leave you with the haunting image of the Headless Spectre.
