A cynical newspaper reporter bullies his way onto a deep sea research vessel to investigate a mysterious object detected on the ocean floor. The only other occupant is the vessel's designer, the taciturn Dr. Weigand. Neither man is prepared for what they discover and each has their existence and destiny forever altered.
