CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli reports that a good portion of Maryland fans believed there was a strong chance Franklin could be the next coach for the Terrapins before accepting the VA Tech job---he did spend 8 years as an assistant under Ralph Friedgen there and was deemed the ‘coach in waiting’ before leaving for Vanderbilt in 2010
Lots has changed since 2010, so it’s no surprise he’s not ending up there…but that’s some pain for that fanbase
