Description

www.Patreon.com/mcgradygroup I’m Ian McGrady and welcome to The McGrady Group: The Best Questions, The Best Answers. In this episode, we focus on North Korea and how real the threat of war is. A week ago bluster from the Trump Administration towards North Korea was escalating. US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is now saying he’ll go to the negotiating table to get Kim Jeong Eun to step down his nuclear missile program… but at what cost to the US influence in the region? The New York Times says a Russian-connected company in Ukraine is supplying North Korea with the technical competency to carry out its unusually successful string of test launches: today experts say North Korea is making credible nuclear threats towards the US. Now the State Department says basically it’s going to let China be the adult in the room facilitating the de-escalation — but how does this serve US interests as well as that of the world? How real is the possibility of a war? What does that mean to America as the World’s policeman? Are regional power structures the way to go?  What are the lessons of the Korean War that apply now? The McGrady Group today is Jeffrey Bolden, an executive specializing in big data architecture systems integration and data conversion. Scott Licamele, an expert on Russian political economy and a commentator on US foreign policy, and Gennady Shkliarevsky, Professor Emeritus from Bard College and author of Rethinking Democracy: A Systems Perspective on the Global Unrest. This podcast was recorded August 12, 2017.
