As we begin Rosh Hashanah we attempt to look honestly at ourselves—and the story of Jonah is the perfect mirror. Jonah heard God’s voice clearly, but chose to run. He’s the prophet who wouldn’t repent, while everyone else in the story did.

What about us? Are we running—from our past, from God’s calling, from forgiveness?
