The Morning News: Police Patrols, Medicaid Debates, and UNC Sports
Description
In today’s news: Chapel Hill police investigate a string of mail thefts and step up patrols on trails after a series of suspicious-person reports. Also: Orange County considers selling land to a nonprofit for a soccer complex; AI is on the agenda for tonight’s Orange County school board meeting; two local college students win Rhodes scholarships; and North Carolina Democrats slam Republicans’ refusal to return to session to fully fund Medicaid. And in sports: UNC football takes a rough loss to Wake Forest, but many other Carolina teams get big wins – including men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, wrestling, and most notably women’s soccer (upsetting Tennessee in round one of the NCAA tourney) and field hockey (through to the NCAA semifinals after beating St. Joseph’s and Duke).
