Description
Today's guest host is Brianna Vela Garcia, Director of Media and Public Relations for Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District. She is Moe's niece and has a passion for promoting the community where they both grew up. Her love extends to showcasing how the town's innovative and strategic public school district creates excellent choices and opportunities for children. This school system's moment in time is a movement in history as they work to ensure every child graduates college, career and community ready.
Brianna is joined by HCISD Assistant Superintendent of Education, Lori Romero. They discuss the importance of literacy in a child's primary years and showcase how innovative education strategies in elementary set up a child for success into secondary school and beyond.
In the second half of the show, Brianna speaks with HCISD Fine Arts Coordinator, Lee Ann Ince. She talks about the transformation and growth of fine arts in the school district over the last several years.
