Close behind, the United Kingdom has dropped six places to 22nd, after a Supreme Court ruling stripped key legal protections from trans people. Meanwhile, Georgia, once a hopeful EU candidate, has fallen seven places to 44th, after passing a harsh legislative package widely seen as mirroring Russian-style crackdowns on LGBTI expression.
