The Repenting Tree
Update: 2025-09-28
Description
This week in our series on the Parables, Jesus provokes us with his sense of justice. He references a recent tragedy and then starts asking who is at fault. Then he tells a parable about wasted resources that may need to be cut. Both could easily be headlines from this week. Yet neither part of this teaching is very comfortable if you are a follower of Christ. And it certainly doesn't seem joy-inducing. But if Christ came to bring good news of grace for broken people, then how do such ominous warnings help us? Why is he pressing them with their own desire to assign blame in the midst of tragedy? Let's talk about the joy-through-warning which Jesus intends at "The Repenting Tree"
Luke 13:1-9
