In an earlier Catholic Answers podcast, he was asked this question. He explained that while he lived in California, he suppressed his Arkansas accent. Now that he lives in Arkansas again, he decided to return to his "natural" speech - although I would speculate that it is currently a little exaggerated.
Why has Jimmy changed his pronunciation? I've noticed he's started dropping his gs ... such as - usen instead of using. There are other examples as well...
