Max Verstappen controlled the 2025 Azerbaijan GP from the front on a bold hard-tyre start, banked a grand slam as he did so and now got people talking about him taking down at least one McLaren in the championship hunt. Mercedes made smart calls as Russell and Antonelli swooped ahead of Ferrari in the team standings!

However, Carlos Sainz delivered a composed P3 to give Williams its first on-merit podium in seven years. Yuki Tsunoda kept it clean and Liam Lawson’s career-best P5 pushed Racing Bulls up to sixth...but McLaren’s weekend unraveled with Piastri’s jump start and crash plus a slow stop that blunted Norris in his reply to the Australian.
