In this episode, we introduce you to the Museum of Asian Art – the only museum in Greece dedicated exclusively to the art and antiquities of Asia. It is housed in one of the most impressive buildings in Corfu Old Town, the Palace of St Michael and St George – which in turn carries its own unique history. Corfu didn’t experience Ottoman rule like the rest of Greece. But many Western nations did rule the island, including the British who built the palace. You must be wondering how a museum with artwork from Japan, China and countries of Southeast and Central Asia ended up here, on an island in the Ionian Sea.
