There's a good deal of misunderstanding when it comes to *what* exactly we should do with our thoughts during meditation. A lot of the confusion may be chalked up to semantics or different styles and techniques, but we can start to understand the basic process of 'letting go of all thoughts' or 'clearing the mind' as a shifting our our attentional resources FROM one thing (the thoughts) TO another (the focus of a meditation or mindful action).
