Thus Spoke Zarathustra is the fictional account of the travels and teaching of the prophet Zarathustra. One of the more controversial aspects of Nietzsche's work is that he puts forth the idea of human evolution and the transformation of modern humans from their ape-like ancestors. Nietzsche inserts a number of controversial ideas into his fictional account of Zarathustra, including some reoccurring themes such as the superman, a self-mastered individual who has achieved his full power and promotes the idea that the current state of human development is not the end result.
Thus Spoke Zarathustra is both a work of philosophy and a fictional tale that will appeal to those looking for entertainment that will also spur deep thought.

My introduction to Nietzsche
Until this book, I had put off reading for nearly 50 years any of Nietzsche's works, expecting that it would be worth my while one day to see how he supports his contention that our diety will cease to exist and subsequently leave a vacuum to be filled by a human being who will appear among us and set things right, surpassing all the myriad limitations previously known to plague mankind. I expected much more from this book then I found. On the whole, "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" failed to enlighten me. I think this book says less about the ills of society then it reveals a desperately lonely individual, plagued by narcissistic tendencies. I suppose he would will fit the description of a hero for many of our alienated youth today. Was it worth my time? â Only in so far as to have satiated my curiosity about Nietzsche.
Screw Nietzsche
I'm not sure why this would be Nietzsche's most celebrated work. I gathered that he is a butt hurt former catholic all pissed off about his religious upbringing. A bunch of whining in religious prose.
