Description

Tom Rush joins Living On Music here for the third time, he's a renowned American folk and blues singer, guitarist and songwriter, and even now at 84 coming off his most recent album "Garden Old, Flowers New," his voice has "grown even richer and more melodic, and his music, like a fine wine, has matured and ripened in the blending of traditional and modern influences.” His early success helped launch the careers of other singer-songwriters in the 1960s, Rolling Stone magazine credits him with ushering in the era of the singer-songwriter, in addition to performing his own compositions, he sang songs by Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Murray McLauchlan, David Wiffen and William Hawkins, helping them gain recognition early in their careers. In more recent years, his Club 47® concerts have brought artists such as Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin to wider audiences when they were just beginning to build their own reputations. He has continued his own singing career for 60 years.
