1. Dallas Cowboys release Zeke Elliott and Franchise Tag Tony Pollard
* The Joker once said, “and here we go,” and those words are the first thing that comes to mind with Tony Pollard now the lead back in Dallas. In 14 career games where Pollard saw 15 or more touches, he averaged 19 PPR PPG. That production would have tied Derrick Henry as the RB4 in 2022.
2. Chicago Bears trade for D.J. Moore
* Not only did Chicago get two first and two seconds, but now they have a legit number on WR for Justin Fields. Below is a quick list of QBs’ PPG before and after they acquired an elite WR1. All we can say now is Fields will be coming for that QB1 spot in 2023.
3. Derek Carr signs with the New Orleans Saints
* Derek Carr will stabilize the QB position in New Orleans, which has a solid set of skill position players. In 2022, Carr led an offense with the RB3, WR6, and TE7 in PPR PPG.
4. Darren Waller is acquired by the New York Giants
* As of today, Darren Waller seems to be walking into a situation where he is again the number one option in 2023. In 2020, Waller saw 145 targets turning that into 1196 yards and 9 TDs. Notably, Head Coach Brian Daboll oversaw an offense back in 2010 that featured tight end Ben Watson as the leading receiver that season.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers release Leonard Fournette
* The Buccaneers have paved the way for Rachaad White to become the clear-cut RB1 in Tampa. New Offensive Coordinator Dave Canales was part of a Seattle Seahawks coaching staff that gave Chris Carson 16 carries per game from 2018 – 2021 and over 18 carries a game to Kenneth Walker in 2022.
6. Damien Harris signs with Buffalo Bills
* As much as we can sit here and say James Cook should be the RB1, Damien Harris will, at the very least, be a threat to his goal-line work. Harris has converted 12 of his 20 carries inside the five for TDs over the past two seasons.
7. Brandin Cooks is traded to the Dallas Cowboys
* The Dallas Cowboys will look to go back to what made Mike McCarthy great in the early 2010s and lean on their strong wide receiver core. The loss of Dalton Schultz should open up some opportunities immediately for Brandin Cooks as he battles for targets alongside Ceedee Lamb and Michael Gallup.
8. Dalton Schultz signs with the Texans
* New offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik comes from the Kyle Shanahan tree that has featured tight end George Kittle over the past few seasons. This scheme could push Dalton Schultz to the top of the pecking order keeping him on the TE1 map.
9. Jimmy Garoppolo lands in Las Vegas
* Jimmy Garoppolo’s familiarity with Raiders coach Josh McDaniels should allow Garoppolo to hit the ground running. In his two starts back in 2016 with the Patriots, he put up solid numbers throwing for 248 yards and two scores per game.
10. Jamaal Williams provides clarity in the New Orleans backfield if Alvin Kamara is suspended.
* With the potential suspension of Alvin Kamara looming, the Saints have done us all a favor by signing Jamaal Williams. Williams should be the lead back if Kamara misses time. However,
