Tal y como previsto, esta etapa llana después del día de descanso no trajo ninguna sorpresa, el pelotón del Tour se lo tomó con calma y llegaron todos juntos para otra llegada al sprint. Esta vez, el equipo Alpecin con su líder Jasper Philipsen consiguieron organizar su tren de lanzamiento y con un Mathieu Vanderpoel como último hombre para guiar a Philipsen, no hubo nadie quien se pudo acercar. Philipsen ganó su primer sprint en este Tour, por delante del jersey verde Biniam Girmay.
