Tunde Onakoya takes Chess from the Slum to the Global Stage
Description
Following up after their April 2025 trip to United Nations headquarters in New York, USA, we take a peek into Tunde Onakoya's Chess in the Slum Africa Project.
Onakoya launched the initiative to provide educational and life-changing opportunities to marginalised youth. The project operates in slums such as Majidun (Ikorodu), Makoko, and Oshodi, utilising chess as a tool to teach critical thinking, problem-solving, resilience, and socio-emotional skills, thereby breaking the cycle of poverty.
