The two did battle for the middleweight title in Arizona, with the champion completing a flawless five-round shut-out of the 'Italian Dream'.
It was Adesanya's third title defence and arguably one of the most convincing performances of his UFC stint, with the Nigerian-Kiwi showing vast improvements in his grappling game.
Elsewhere, Brandon Moreno made history becoming the first Mexican-born UFC champion when he won the flyweight title.
And Leon Edwards scored the biggest win if his career, proving a step above Nate Diaz.
