- Carlos Alcaraz is handed a shock US Open defeat by Botic van de Zandschulp
- Alcaraz said afterwards he is "not strong enough mentally" and has taken steps back in that regard.
- Van de Zandschulp meanwhile was proud of his "emotionally stable" approach to the match, impressive for a man who nearly decided to retire just a few months ago at the age of 28.
