I felt like I knew [Dr.] Sofia Costa all my life and we were catching up on old times. Sofia grew up as the progeny of two prominent medical doctors where every illness and injury was cured by procedures and pills but when she was diagnosed at 16 with compartment syndrome, a painful and dangerous condition caused by pressure build up from internal bleeding or swelling of the tissues. She was determined it was not going to stop her from getting back on the court and playing the sport she loved. This was the catalyst that brought her to find and pursue her purpose and passion.
