6:24 p.m.: I-70 westbound between Exit 216 at Loveland Pass and Exit 205 at Silverthorne has reopened, according to CoTrip.org.
3:50 p.m.: Three people were killed in a crash involving a single semitruck at mile marker 208 on I-70 westbound around 5:42 a.m. on Sunday, according to Summit Fire & EMS. Summit Fire & EMS personnel assisted in the response to the crash Sunday morning, and an investigation by Colorado State Patrol is ongoing.

11 a.m.: Interstate 70 westbound remains closed between Exit 216 at Loveland Pass and Exit 205 at Silverthorne Sunday morning as Colorado State Patrol investigates a fatal crash that occurred in the early morning on Sunday.
According to Colorado State Patrol, troopers responded to a fatal crash involving a single semitruck at mile marker 208 westbound around 5:42 a.m.
Initial reports indicate that the semitruck went off the right side of the road, crashed and caught on fire. All occupants of the semitruck were pronounced dead on the scene. Due to the extensive damage and fire to the vehicle, first responders are unable to confirm the number of occupants at this time, according to Colorado State Patrol.
Westbound travel on Interstate 70 remains closed as the investigation continues. Travelers in the area should anticipate an extended closure and there is no time frame for the road to reopen. Check CoTrip.org for the latest road opening status.

Original: Interstate 70 westbound between Exit 216 at Loveland Pass and Exit 205 at Silverthorne was closed Sunday morning, Oct. 12, due to a vehicle fire on the west side of the tunnels. A Summit Daily News reporter observed an overturned semitruck a few miles east of Silverthorne, and Colorado Department of Transportation camera images from earlier in the morning appear to show a burned semitruck.
