Description

“Self-care” is a hashtag and term commonly used on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok to sell a lifestyle or a trendy product.

But what does self-care truly mean, and how does it help a person’s mental health?

On this week’s “Connect the Dots” podcast, host Lynda Lopez spoke with Filipina-American social media influencer Kim Saira to see how Instagram – while often a major contributor to stress – can be a tool for strengthening mental health and self-care for communities of color.

We also caught up with licensed therapist and founder of Cheat Code Dr. Armando “Mondo” Gonza?lez to explain the pandemic’s impact on emotional health across the country, and to give us some tips on how to practice good self-care ourselves.
