In a dystopian future as a result of a second civil war, America is divided into 3 land masses - The United States of America (USA), The Free States of America (FSA), and covering Manhattan is a demilitarized zone called DMZ. Alma Ortega (Rosario Dawson) is a mother who lost her son during the evacuation 7 years ago. After spending years searching for her child in the USA and FSA, she comes back to where it all began - the DMZ where she is caught between a political battle her ex-husband, the leader of the Spanish Harlem Kings - Parco Delgado (Benjamin Bratt) and her ex co-worker, now a powerful leader of the Chinatown - Wilson Lin (Hoon Lee). Alma becomes an unexpected symbol of hope for the people of the DMZ as "Zee" and tries to win back his distant son - Christian (Freddy Miyares), now named "Skel", an assassin who works to eliminated everyone who comes in his father's way.
