What impact does climate change have on the colour of trees in Fall?
Update: 2025-10-03
Description
As the temperatures dip and the days grow shorter, the trees around us are putting on one of nature’s most spectacular shows — the changing colours of fall. But what exactly triggers those reds, oranges, and yellows, and how are climate change and extreme weather events influencing what we see year to year? To help us understand, we’re joined by Ian Major, a Research Scientist in Forest Genomics at Natural Resources Canada, who studies tree health and resilience in a changing climate. He spoke to Andrew Carter.
