- "Until we know Jesus, God is merely a concept." –October 30th, My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers.
 - The best authority who tells us who Jesus is.... is Jesus himself!
 - Jesus' 7 "I am" statements:
- John 6:35 – Bread of Life
 - John 8:12 – Light of the world
 - John 10:9 – Door
 - John 10:11 – Good Shepherd
 - John 11:25 – Resurrection and Life
 - John 14:6 – Way, Truth and Life
 - John 15:1 – True Vine

 - We must know Jesus' statements not as concepts, but as the magnet of our lives.
 - John 6:9 mentions barley loaves.
 - The common bread of the poor was barley, but the bread of the wealthy was wheat.
 - Jesus partners with the poor and needy.
 - The disciples thought they should send away the people due to lack of food.
 - Was there ever a time in your life when you thought, "I don't have enough." But couldn't God be behind this? Yes! We are to learn to trust in Jesus to provide what we don't have.
 - vs. 14: they call Jesus a 'Prophet.' But wasn't Jesus so much more than a Prophet? Yes. Jesus shows much patience and mercy.
 - Jesus says in verse 20, "It is I; do not be afraid." This is another "I am" statement. This goes back to Exodus 3 in which God tells Moses that his name is "I am." Meaning, he is the self-existent one. He is the eternal God. When you read "I am" statements we must understand it to mean that God is self-existing.
 - verse 26: one of the best ways to miss Jesus is to go to him for physical and material benefits.
 - The reason why the crowds came was because Jesus took care of their physical and material needs. Many eventually left because they only came for those purposes.
 - Most of us came to authentic faith in a crisis situation. If this doesn't move to God's agenda, it won't last.
 - verse 27: "For on him God the Father has set his seal." –This is an authentic person. The signs and wonders are God's 'seal' that Jesus is who he says he is.
 - The people are seeking a sign, a validation.
 - vs. 35: "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst." –Jesus
 - Jesus promises eternal satisfaction....he is the source of our soul's satisfaction. Everything under the sun needs to be fed again tomorrow (i.e. job promotions, etc.)
 - The motive behind every miracle that God performed was to show people who he was and what he came to do. Every miracle was show they he came to reconcile everything.
 - Miracles were not primarily a proof that God exists, but a sign of who he was and what he came to do.
 - If we pray for people and they don't get healed, we must ask "Does our agenda and God's agenda line up?"
 - verse 53: "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you." àJesus is here speaking of his crucifixion.
 - Unless we let the crucifixion of Jesus fill us, we have no part in Jesus.
 - Unless you take in Jesus' atonement, you will be hungry and thirsty all the time.
 - People drift in and out of church because he is a concept, but they are never introduced to the person of Jesus Christ.
 - verse 15: "Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself."
 - And after this, the disciples get into a boat and start to cross the sea to Capernaum. Then a storm comes! We can't judge storms to always bring about God's judgment. Storms can come because we are actually walking with Jesus. Jesus sends storms into our lives for our own good. Jesus knew that his popularity would destroy the disciples.
 - Not only does he send us into a storm that he knew would be there, he (1) intercedes for us; (2) he comes for us; (3) he rescues us.
 - Jesus walks 'on top' of our circumstances, he is for us and he is coming for us!
