Description

My name is John Schneider and I am the creator of the Food Afield Podcast. Throughout my life, I have been a professional bowhunting and fly-fishing guide in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

More recently though, I am an outdoor writer, photographer, sustainable living practitioner, and podcast host. I also appear regularly on the award-winning web series From The Wild. For more than thirty years I have been hunting, fishing, and cooking wild food ingredients over open fires.

The Food Afield Podcast is a documentary-style, outdoor adventure show. Mostly, we record episodes in the field while we search for wild food ingredients on our various hunting and fishing expeditions across western Canada.

Each episode of the podcast is between thirty minutes and an hour. You can expect weekly episode releases every Wednesday.

And now we have a new series, The Traditional Bowhunter's Journey! These new podcast episodes are released every 2nd Sunday and feature the world's top traditional archery experts sharing their tips on how you can get started with recurve and longbow archery and bowhunting. The TBJ podcast episodes are brought to you in cooperation with Traditional Bowhunter Magazine.

You'll hear the Food Afield Podcast on your favourite podcast listening app, but you should especially check us out over at the website. There are tons of how-to articles and photographs to browse while you listen to the show
