Description

The Chaplaincy in the South African National Defence Force has always deployed Chaplains throughout every military operation that the SANDF has ever engaged in, including the current Operation Notlela against Covid-19.

With the global outbreak of the Coronavirus, once again the SANDF’s involvement with the SAPS is required to secure the nation from the spread of this pandemic. The Chaplains ensure that the soldiers are cared for spiritually in line with our mandate, and that our pastoral calling to care and support where needed, is applied.

The Chaplaincy exists to guarantee that the spiritual needs of our soldiers in the line of danger are catered for. Military chaplaincy is an invaluable source of support and guidance for our soldiers and their command. They are men and women who walk alongside the wounded, who sit with the bedridden, who help ease the pain during State and Military funerals, and who are present during the suffering of soldiers and their families.

Today we reflect on role of Chaplaincy in the SANDF in the fight against Covid-19.

We speak to Brigadier General (Reverend) Monwabisi Jamangile
