A terrifying incident at Avalon Raceway near Geelong last Friday night, during the Fireball Derby, saw a sprint car lose a wheel that flew into the spectator area, injuring two people. Witnesses described the wheel bouncing off a back wall and hitting a group of spectators. The Raceway management is reviewing the incident and plans to implement changes to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
