When the world stood still...

...at least some of it did when Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram went offline on the 04/10/2021. Many people get their news from these apps and were lost without it. What can we do to stop this sort of dependency? Why have we allowed these companies to become bigger than many countries GDP?
We have to start taking time away from these apps and services by taking mini social media breaks; start with an hour and move up from there.
