Trevor shared his remarkable journey, highlighting his extensive career as a writer, TV producer, and advocate for equality. We delved into the significance of role models, where Trevor emphasised the importance of having multiple role models that reflect achievable pathways rather than unattainable ideals. Trevor's unique upbringing, having spent significant time in both the UK and Guyana, shaped his understanding of race and identity allowed him to navigate different cultural contexts. We explored the complexities of racism, with Trevor offering a nuanced definition that goes beyond mere acts of discrimination to encompass the irrational elevation of racial differences in human interactions. He argued that while microaggressions exist, they should be addressed through education and open dialogue rather than punitive measures. We wrapped up on a hopeful note, with Trevor highlighting the unique mixed-race population in the UK as a sign of progress.
