Description

History as a class is a requirement for graduation from high school and from college. Most people only take the history class to fulfill a requirement for a diploma. For those who like history, this becomes an experience of different times and places. Studying history gives a moral understanding and a sense of personal individuality. Additionally, understanding history is a way to understand how the modern world works. And finally, to quote George Santayana, “those who fail to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.” History is the recollection of events that have happened and are factual. By knowing these facts, students can learn how to progress and advance not making the same mistakes. Studying history also provides a sense of respect and pride from its students towards a society. History can also help its students improve many skills, like critical thinking skills, needed for other fields of life. The study of history is essential to society.
