Why it's so good to be open | Express Yourself
Description
Tonight #thehiddenpodium was given the opportunity of meeting Mr. John Foley. John's mission is to help men be open and having tough discussions that need to be had. Through positivity, and understanding, we discuss that it's okay to let down your guard, and have that tough talk to ultimately find transparency in expressing yourself.
John was in the US Military for 18 years during which he’s done multiple tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan. John describes himself as “a guy with some life experience that wants to share some of his failures so that you fail better.” He created Men’s Methodology to examine modern masculinity because he feels the rules and landscape or battlefield if you will are different for men and women.
John promotes open and honest dialogues to normalize attitudes of weakness and vulnerability for the guys. He also encourages the female perspective from his female followers since it’s critically important to have a wholistic discourse about masculinity with both.
John discusses his brother James "Jim" Wright Foley, and how he was tragically captured by ISIS in 2012, and tortured during captivity for two-years before his death in 2014. Due to this hardship, we talk depression, hitting rock bottom, and ways to cope with our daily demons.
Thankfully now, John utilizes his time to instill positivity into the world through his Instagram Page called #MensMethodology

John's Mother Diane, is the President & Founder of The James W. Foley legacy Foundation were their mission is to protect conflict journalists like Jim, and to ensure that all American hostages are returned home. They celebrate awareness and memory for Jim each year by hosting a "Freedom Run" were they successfully raised $118,000 dollars this year alone towards their mission.

John, we want to thank you so much for becoming a friend on our show, and openly discussing the hardships as a man, and how it's okay to be transparent in expressing where people may be currently in life both mentally & physically. We stress that better days are ahead and that we are all here to call upon collectively as humans when one another needs help.
John focuses on Men's Methodology to examine men's masculinity, and to empower men to live better lives. We are excited to see how he commits to this mindset fully upon his completion and retirement with the U.S. Airforce.
Thank you for your families patriotism!
Special Thanks
