Why the U.S. Government is Taking on TikTok
Description
What’s truly behind the proposed bill in Congress to ban the TikTok app? Andy thinks it may have more to do with U.S.-China competition than national security or our children’s mental health. He explores that opinion with investigative journalist Julia Angwin and Cornell’s Tech Policy Institute director Sarah Kreps, who lay out the concerns raised about TikTok and explain why banning it won’t keep us safe.

The Chinese government doesn't believe in free speech, free access to its citizens by social media platforms. Why wouldn't we be suspicious of Tik Tok and its addicting app behavior profile? Shouldn't we be suspicious of all social media platforms? Isn't Meta going all in on tech to read minds and/or alter attitudes? There should be a Manhattan project to study where it's going and how it may be misused to subvert our right to freedom of thought? Is there a reason to think we aren't prey to be monetized? Machine learning or AI are tools that may be used to subtly manipulate us personally or on a macro scale entire populations? Why are not more suspicious?!?! Pass the tinfoil!
