Wisconsin Assembly Rep. Doyle on school cellphone ban, regionalizing La Crosse assets like airport, using surplus for SNAP
Description
Wisconsin state Assembly Rep. Steve Doyle (D-Onalaska) in studio discussing everything from the school cellphone “ban” that’s on Gov. Tony Evers desk to the state’s budget surplus and ability to use that for things like bridging the gap in SNAP funding from the government shutdown.
We also discussed with Doyle, who is also on the La County Board, the regionalization of assets now controlled by the city of La Crosse. For example, handing over the airport to La Crosse County, instead of having the city run it — or the La Crosse Center.
We started the show discussing a recent story about sexual misconduct among teachers in Wisconsin that wasn’t known to the public and what the state Legislature or the Department of Instruction is doing about that.
Then we got into the cellphone bill, before talking about SNAP benefits and what the state could do with its budget surplus — or if it even has a budget surplus.
