April 1, Wisconsin holds its spring elections for state Supreme Court, Superintendent of Public Instruction and a variety of local government and school board races. Ostensibly nonpartisan, the 2025 campaign for the Wisconsin Supreme Court has been anything but. Centibillionaire Elon Musk has described the Wisconsin race in apocalyptic terms, saying the results could determine the fate of western civilization. Along with fellow billionaires Diane Hendricks, Elizabeth Uielien and Joe Rickets, Musk has poured tens of millions of dollars into the race to support conservative Waukesha judge Brad Schimel. On the other side, George Soros, J.B. Pritzker and Gloria Page have spent similar sums to support liberal Dane County judge Susan Crawford. Total spending in the race could top $100 million, doubling the amount spent on the 2023 Supreme Court race. Here with the latest on the election is Votebeat Wisconsin reporter Alex Shur.
