Wonderful Water: Care to Share Day 2025

Description

This month on “Wonderful Water,” join 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey for a conversation about OWASA’s annual Care to Share Day with Angie Smith, billing supervisor for OWASA and the organization’s longest-serving employee! With over four decades of experience serving the community, this isn’t Smith’s first Care to Share Day — but 2025 might be one of the biggest yet, with a little help from OWASA’s customers and neighbors!

“The Care to Share program is the oldest water bill assistance program in the state,” said Smith. “It’s all about neighbors helping neighbors. It’s an easy way for OWASA customers to contribute, to give back to the community in a way that is essential to public health and quality of life.”

The annual program provides essential assistance to OWASA customers most in need, and helps to ensure the availability of clean, consistent water to our entire community. The Care to Share program is a yearly effort to give, and give back, but also an avenue to provide something essential in as honest and straightforward a manner as possible.

“None of the donations go to administration,” said Smith. “We’re able to put 100 percent of the donations back into the community … In all my decades with OWASA, one thing that has never changed is that people need help. … Every year may sound like small numbers to some of the listeners, only $25,000, only 80 families. But to those 80 families who were faced with paying their water bill or something else, that little bit of breathing room is significant.”
