Wyoming battled Cal State to a 38-38 tie at the half on Saturday, then the Cowboys pulled away with eight three-point shots down the stretch for a 92-82 win.

Out-boarded in the first half, Wyoming used three-pointers to keep pace with the Titans, who went on an 8-0 run in the final 2.5 minutes of the opening round.

The battle continued in the second half with Cal State using the free throw line to keep it tied at 47 at the 16-minute mark.

Junior guard Kaden Bennett of Mansfield, Texas hit a big three point shot early in the second half to put the Cowboys back in the lead.

Keith Kelley and Kevin McKinney had the call. The 6-9 freshman from Estonia, Simm Saadi, picked up the assist.

The Cowboys were starting to roll. Wyoming lost the lead briefly but regained the lead and began to steamroll Cal State. Nasir “Naz” Meyer scored 18 points with five rebounds and four assists. Bennett added 14 for back-to-back games, scoring in the double figures.

The Pokes shot 45 percent from the field and 39 percent from behind the arc in a game that had conference-like intensity early on.

For the Titans, 6-3 senior transfer Jefferson De La Cruz Monegro, started off the game with a beautiful shot from beyond the arc then led the way with 21 points.  The Titans took advantage of nine Wyoming turnovers in the first half. The Cowboys tightened up their play in the second half while the Titans hit only two of their ten shots from beyond the arc.

Head Coach Sundance Wicks began the postgame news conference with a nod to Cal State Head Coach Dedrique Taylor, now in his 13^th season.

The Pokes return to action on Tuesday hosting Austin Peay in the Arena-Auditorium for a 6:30 p.m. tip on the Mountain West Network.
