Description

GoT time! In this episode of YGP we discuss at length the differences between the Song of Ice and Fire books and TV show. As a result, we have found the books to be quite different in many separate ways.

Hey person I respect and adore for visiting us

In this episode we discuss the Song of Ice and Fire books in comparison to the show. Suffice to say they are two entirely separate mediums. The show has done many things differently than the books and as we come to the end of its run it’s important to keep in mind that we can still hold out for a different ending in print!

Enjoy that one?

Here’s a link to next episode where we went over the first episode of the 8th season!

And here’s a link to a prior one where we go over the show before Season 8 started!

For your reading pleasure, I have subsequently included a portion of the script I initially used for the introduction of the episode! If you plan to listen to the episode but want to read this instead of hearing me say it with different language, by all means go right ahead. I’m including it here for SEO reasons, or in other words, so people can more easily find our content through search engines.

Welcome to our GoT Book vs. Show Breakdown

Thanks for comin through. We have here for ya our takes on the literary arm of the GoT universe. GoT itself is a show produced by HBO. A Song of Ice and Fire is the book series that the show is based on. In this episode of the podcast we go over the many differences between the two mediums. We also touch base on what was left out of the TV program and the things that they translated poorly.

This was a fun episode to do and a subject we will be revisiting once the show wraps up.

Let’s hope George is out there writing his end to the series!

This episode is for people who have watched the show and are interested in the book portion of the universe. With how Season 8 is playing out we all need to hope George saves us from what is turning out to be one helluva disappointment.

If you read the books it could be seen as a refresher as Andy is basically an expert on the books. It is very interesting how different the two mediums, print and screen, have become . This is fascinating to study because nothing like this has ever happened before.

Namely, a book series that is unfinished becoming the most popular show of all time BEFORE it is completed. The books are the source material. The show is a derivative of that material and at this point, while MUCH is similar, it is also clear that MUCH is also different, and therefore, the two components must be viewed separately when considering timelines, key story points, and character progressions.

Thank you for listening to our takes on the GoT universe! We hope you have enjoyed it.
