You Can’t Run, You Can’t Hide from “The Evil Dead” (1981)
Description
*TW: sexual assault, 20:00 - 25:45 *
A horror flick that celebrates all the horror flicks that came before it–the ribbon around a bouquet of horrific treasures! It introduces so much to the genre, and the world of film. It’s Romero’s Night of the Living Dead with a pinch of Hooper’s Texas Chainsaw, a hint of Carpenter’s Halloween, a twist of Friedkin’s Exorcist, and most importantly a sprinkle of the 3 Stooges. This cult classic was created by Sam Raimi, who’s also responsible for kicking off our cinematic universe of heroes. Before directing the Amazing Spider-Man, Raimi inspired a host of new horror movies, and movie makers (think Eli Roth’s Cabin Fever, Edgar Wright’s Shaun of the Dead) with his first feature film, The Evil Dead.
