You Can't Build a Sustainable Yoga Practice Without First Laying a Solid Foundation
Description
You Can't Build a Sustainable Yoga Practice Without First Laying a Solid Foundation
You might need to hear this if you've tried and failed and tried again. Yes, I'm speaking to those of you that have endeavoured to start a breath or yoga practice and given up before you've even given yourself the proper chance to grow.
Yoga takes time and practice and building a foundation from the ground up. I mean, whoever heard of something enduring, durable and long-lasting, built upon a crappy foundation?
When you are not standing by your intentions to unlearn, re-learn, fail, grow and push beyond your physical and mental boundaries (the very thing that will most likely hold you back from attainment) you are destined to remain stuck.
One of your most priceless commodities is the permission you give yourself to grow; and until you are able to push beyond fear, excuses and comparisons, you are costing yourself - not the person or reason that has become your excuse not to commit - but YOU.
You have to remain vigilant in your willingness to practice, change your mindset and remain true to your intention and this might be as simple as creating a space that you move into on a regular basis even if that's just to roll out your mat, sit or stand on it and roll it back up again.
When we look back at the analogy mentioned earlier, the solid foundation that you lay becomes your vision, your mission and your values that set your strong desire to create a sustainable practice. Without them being set in stone, or concrete as it were, there is the potential for cracks and instability to appear.
Out of this foundation, your structure can be built. Think of this as building your skillset, knowledge and learning of one mindful pose and one meaningful breath at a time.
Finally, the roof becomes a result of your vision or foundation, the reward that has now become a safe home for your sustainable practice.
Just like building a home from foundation, through structure, to the roof, it cannot be done alone! You need the support of people you trust, with qualifications pertinent to the job. You require someone who is able to listen to you, feel your struggles and see your aspirations.
Ask yourself! Is it not time for you to build a foundation for your life and yoga practice where you can flourish and grow?
