Description

In episode 10, my locker room is dazzled by USC Track & Field Alumni, Alycia Carrillo, whom reflects on her time as a long jumper at USC, her experience as a student-athlete, navigating major life transitions while being a competitor and student, and a heart breaking injury that lead to an early end to her career. Now, she shines even brighter as an evolved woman with two Master of Science Degrees in Sports Medicine from Lund University in Sweden and Sports Psychology from University of Kentucky and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Carrillo also discusses her professional career- now on the other side of things, future aspirations, and the mental ups and downs of life after sport.

If you would like to reach out to Alycia, her email is: alycialcarrillo@gmail.com
Currently, Alycia is doing remote coaching specifically directed toward women looking to become more well-rounded athletes in sport and/or life.

https://chng.it/J9rw6tFgHN Sign my petition to encourage the NCAA to implement a Mental-Health Redshirt option for student-athletes that need to take a pause on competition to prioritize and address their mental health struggles without jeopardizing their future as a competitor.

In addition, the NCAA may consider implementing a policy that mental health practitioners be available for all teams to have access to while traveling, at training camps and on a weekly basis for student-athletes to have access to. Let's take care of our student athletes, protect their future, and treat them like people, not products! Please sign and share!
