YouTube will lock out Australian users under 16 from their accounts starting December 10, as part of Australia's social media ban implementation. Users under 16 will still be able to watch videos but lose access to uploads, subscriptions, likes, and parental safety controls. Social media companies face fines up to $49.5 million for failing to block underage users, with apps like Lemon8 also expected to restrict access to over-16s only.
