Zack Polanski's leadership has coincided with significant Green Party success, most notably a surge in membership, with numbers more than doubling since he took over in September 2025. This has been accompanied by electoral gains, including winning 74 seats in recent local council elections, after a general election where the party quadrupled its number of MPs to four. Polanski has achieved this success with a strategy of "eco-populism" and bold media engagement, aiming to connect with a broader base of voters beyond the party's traditional supporters.

Responding to the new membership figure, Polanski said: “More than 100,000 people have now joined the Green movement. That’s 100,000 people who believe politics can be honest, fair and hopeful again.The Greens are the only real opposition left in British politics. Standing up for fair taxes, a livable planet and a future where compassion and courage matter more than corporate interests. People are understandably disillusioned, but we are here to make hope normal again.”
